He was ranked no 1 in the 1980s by WORLD TENNIS magazine, Michel Sutter among other publications gave him this prestigious honour for his strength endurance which made him one of history’s most celebrated players ever!

He is known as one of the greatest tennis players in Argentinian history, but it wasn’t until his success brought him unprecedented fame and status on this continent that people started showing enthusiasm for The Game. It’s said today by some historians say without Vilas there would be no Argentinean male player capable enough to compete at Grand Slams or International tournaments – he was something special back then!
