Description
Holland Park Tennis Club was established circa 1875 as ‘a private lawn tennis, cycling, croquet and pleasure ground’ at the western end of the Holland Estate. The club was originally founded for the exclusive use of the residents of Holland Park. However, soon after the end of the First World War, circa 1920, a lease was granted to a committee to establish a private tennis club, no longer for the sole use of residents, now known as Holland Park Lawn Tennis Club.
General Questions
Just download an application form naming a proposer and seconder aged 18 or over who should be existing members, and submit the form with the £20 non-refundable admin fee to the club & tennis manager or a member of the committee.
You are welcome to look round the club at any time. You may also come to play as a guest of a member up to six times a year.
If you are an adult, the answer is yes, given the limited facilities. Members mix to form doubles and full members have to be competent at strokes, game play and court etiquette. Weekday members (who can only play up to 5pm during the week) are not held to the same standard. Prospective junior members do not have to have previous playing experience.
The club holds play-ins once or twice a year. The membership fee will be adjusted according to when you join in the financial year.
